My name is Laurie Cohn Sasson. I am the English as a New Language (ENL) teacher at Eagle Point Elementary School. I have been teaching ENL (formerly ESL) for over 20 years in Albany. My family is native to Albany. Both my mother and grandmother taught in Albany. I have two children. My son is nine years old and is in fourth grade. My daughter is six and is in second grade. My children speak Hebrew and English. I have studied Hebrew, Spanish, German and Russian. I am a strong supporter of bilingual education.
I will be working with your child this year to help him/her improve his/her English language skills. ENL students see me every day during the regular school day. Most ENL services are provided in the general education classroom through a co-teach model. Beginning level English language learners students receive pull-out services four times a week. Each classroom teacher has my schedule. Our room number is 115. If you want to know the exact time your child comes to ENL, please contact us.
My school email is [email protected]. My cell phone number is 518-229-5538. Please feel free to contact me at any time with any questions or concerns you may have. I look forward to working with you and your child this year.
This year we are lucky enough to have two ENL teachers. Ms. Cassandra Moise works with the kindergarten, first and second grade. Her email is [email protected]. We work as a team to support your children so please feel free to ask either one of us questions.
My name is Cassandra Moise and I am the new ENL teacher at Eagle Point Elementary School. I have been working for The City School District of Albany for a number of years. I have worked at Giffen Memorial Elementary School, Delaware Community School, and New Scotland Elementary School. I have met and worked with a number of ENL students, and it has been a great experience. I enjoy traveling and learning about different culture. I am excited to be part of this community and I look forward to meeting and working you and your child/ren.

The school Nurse
Another important person in school is the nurse. She is here to help your children. Her name is Mrs. Shea. You can contact her at [email protected] and by phone at 518-475-6830. When you come to school please make sure that you give her your children’s medical records. The immunization records are very important. Your child must have all immunizations. If you are new to the country you have 30 days to get these shots. If you go to see the doctor or go to the hospital please send the report to her.
